RYA Covid Advice

Published 18:04 on 12 Mar 2021

The good news is that the light at the end of the tunnel is finally approaching, and it seems we can look forward to sailing and socialising with friends and families in the weeks and months ahead.

This note is to update you on the club's response to the recent announcements by the Government on the COVID-19 pandemic and the clarification released recently by the RYA which we will continue to abide by:

The Government have announced that on Monday 8th March there will be a return to school for Children. However, there is no change to the requirement to remain at home, and accordingly the club will remain closed, and members are advised not to maintain their boats in the dinghy park. If you need to do work on your boat, you may pick it up from the dinghy park and take it home. We are allowed to carry out necessary works in preparation for the new season, and will therefore do this in a 'COVID Friendly' manner.

The sailing season will restart at Stone on the Easter weekend with Racing on Sunday 4th and Monday 5th April as per the sailing programme (which is on the web site www.stonesc.org.uk). We are also considering Cadet training on Saturday 3rd April. Contact Sandra for details. The club and changing rooms will remain closed at this time.

From Sunday April 18th, changing rooms will be opened for sailors to use (socially distanced) and the toilet in Blackthorn will be open for use. Also The bar will be opened for members outdoors, following the Rule of 6 or 2 households only.

From 17th May, the clubhouse can be opened, and from 21 June all restrictions will end, and we hope to have a proper party! More about these later dates will be released once known. Of course the dates are subject to review, but hopefully this gives you a taste as to how we will proceed to open up the club this season.

As last year, we understand that the restrictions will have an impact on launch dates for cruisers, and we are happy to be flexible on launching dates again for this year.

We are hoping to man the support RIBs with people in household groups as last year whilst socially distancing restrictions are in place. Please contact me asap if you would volunteer for this as a family to support our start of season activities this year.
