This is an update you on how our sailing will operate for the first few weeks of the season, when we all have to live under the continuing guidelines. As last year, we have to minimise risk, and operate within the law, ensuring track and trace is properly in place. Therefore please adhere to the following guidelines until at least 17th May:

1. You must pre-register for racing. This can be done via the Book Online tab here. This must be completed before 9PM on the day before the race. Entries are open for the first race of each day, and that entry is made for any or all of the races on that day.

2.There is no requirement to physically sign onto a race sheet on the day. If you have pre-registered, your presence is enough.

3.Any guests or members attending the club to stay on land and watch the racing should sign onto the attendance sheet which will be under the canopy.

4.The changing rooms will be closed until at least the 12th April in line with Government advice. After this date you may use the changing rooms in a strictly socially distanced manner, meaning there may be a limit on the number of people allowed to use the changing rooms, and a 2m distance should be maintained at all times. Accordingly you are advised to arrive and depart in sailing kit if possible. The toilet in Blackthorn will be open for emergency use as last year.

5.Sailing in two man boats from two households is allowed under RYA/Government advice. Such crews must take additional mitigations to control the risk. Please read the following advice here

6. The race course will be using inflatable marks, which will be laid before the first race. The course will be displayed on the white board or the Race Board on the wall under the canopy

7.The racing will continue to be risk averse, in order to avoid incidents on the water which would create a higher risk of virus transfer. This is in line with RYA advice, and at the discretion of the race officer.

Note that where appropriate the above points update relevant sections of the Club Sailing Instructions.

Race officers during the continuing COVID restrictions will be Wendy, Caroline and Sarah who have kindly agreed to run the bridge in a covid-secure manner until the rules are eased. Accordingly those people who are assigned duties as shown in the programme can stand down, with the programmed teams restarting after 17th May.

Until 17th May, we are hoping to use household pairs for safety cover as we did last year. Any volunteers please get in touch. However if there are insufficient volunteers to cover the necessary duties we will contact members to seek your support for upcoming dates. Therefore anybody who has already assigned themselves to duties on our web site during this period (and some have!), please be aware that you are not required to attend these duties. During April we will be undertaking a full allocation of duties for the rest of the season.
