Racing Mark Sponsorship
Published 12:27 on 24 Mar 2023
In an attempt to make our permanent racing marks more visible, it has been decided that the club will invest in new PVC wrapping, which will be placed around each of the existing blue racing marks. As it is no longer possible to buy yellow drums and painting them each year is both costly and not very ecologically sound, we have come up with a new solution. A local sailmaker will produce yellow PVC sleeves, that will fit permanently over each mark, in order to make them more visible, both on the water and from the shore.
In order to help cover the cost of this solution, the club have decided to offer members, friends and local businesses, the chance to sponsor a mark. Your name, or message, or business logo, will be printed on a cover and will then be in place for the life of that cover. This is a great way of advertising your business, or remembering a loved one, or just being generous and having a mark named after yourself. At just £100 per mark, for the lifetime of the cover, it represents excellent value for money and will help to cover the cost of this important project.
Skip Atkins has already generously offered to sponsor the 'A' mark, in memory of his late father and our past commodore Stan. From now on, our start mark will be known as the Stan 'A' kins Mark.
