The Minus 40 Match Racing Championships will soon be upon us. We are hugely excited to be organising our first Match Racing Championship at Stone SC and are working hard behind the scenes to ensure the weekend will bring excellent racing and a fantastic social event.

We have been liaising closely with the RYA regarding the event, they have informed us this will be the biggest Match Racing Event "EVER"!!!!

Our event is slightly different to the traditional match racing format. On Saturday & Sunday, we will be running a league qualifying system. It will be lots of fast-paced 15 20 minute windward leeward races.

If we get all the races in from the first rounds as planned on Saturday, the top team from each of the 3 leagues will automatically qualify for the Semi-final on Sunday. This leaves the remaining teams battling it out Sunday morning for the 4th and the remaining Semi-final place. So another round of quick-fire one on one races. Sunday afternoon should see the Semi Final rounds and finish up with the Championship Final

All spectators are welcome. The long-term forecast is excellent, a North Easterly 10-12mph wind. This means we can position the start line close to the club so you can easily see the action from the beach or lounge deck.

This format of racing makes for interesting viewing for spectators, it will be a fantastic spectacle.

If you want to understand the format in detail, please join us at the briefing at 10.30 am Saturday 03rd June.

The teams are racing in 2000s, which have been kindly loaned by Club members.

The clubhouse and bar will also be open on Friday night for a pre-event briefing from 7 pm. Come along for a drink, and a chat. Stuart Bithell (Olympic Gold Medallist at Tokyo) has entered the event and has kindly agreed to bring his medal along Friday night. If anyone is interested in a chat, or a bit of sailing inspiration, do come along.

We have organised a fantastic meal and entertainment on Saturday evening which is as always open to all club Members.

It's an Event not to be MISSED, so come along!

Meals can now be booked online by clicking HERE.
